"Which is still pretty crap by Aussie standards," Keith laughed. But he knew Brett wouldn't take the deal regardless... And walked over to Brett and Kaz. "Look, you two, you're two out of five people in the entire world that I know of that has that kind of Digivice. Right now, countless Digimon are being enslaved by some asshat using his 'dark towers' to suppress digivolution, enslave Digimon, and mess up the inter-dimensional barriers. And I don't think he's gonna stop with the Digital World - I bet whoever is behind this is gonna try and invade the 'real world', too, once he has full control of the Digital World! Look, I'm sure we can work something out here. I'm not in it for the pay, I want to save lives, all of us do. And your help could make that so much easier." He then looked at Kaz. "And no offense, but with an attitude like that, I honestly don't believe you when you say you don't have a 'problem'. I don't know if you don't have friends or not, but having more friends can't possibly be a bad thing, mate." Vix said nothing, simply letting Keith talk. |

Brett thought about it... "...If you cover living expenses separate of salary including lodging, utilities, medical/dental, and cable, we've got a deal," said Brett, realizing that sounded really rather mercenary of him, but he needed something more than thirty grand a year for the possibility of getting his soul eaten. "Cops don't work for free, and thirty grand a year doesn't cover living in New York City and everyone here knows that. Can't very well save the world from...whatever the hell is going on...on an empty stomach and no bed, can I?" Brick laughed a bit, not surprised. Brett'd proven to be an okay guy, but he had a point. |
