I don't think it's that big a deal if I just, well, talk to myself >_>...."Our player is a loony.......turning this RP into a romance story..."Now that the area was pacified, the three of them were pretty much free to explore. Nyx was another low-value continent, and mostly consisted of small tribes and packs when it came to any kind of civilization.
"So...tell me about yourself, Andorra."
"Hrm? What's there that you want me to say?"
Andorra was actually riding side-saddle, unlike Brett. She was leaning against his back, comfortable.
"Well...how old are you, I guess? I know I'm not supposed to ask a lady's age, but..."
"I...I'm not exactly sure. I'm supposed to say 20 but I don't know if that's true."
"Well, I'm 22...you look maybe just a bit younger than I am...older than Lex and Ashe, that's for sure."
"Granted, we don't know if that's on purpose or not..."
"It's giving me a headache just thinking about it. Can we not ask about stuff I can't remember?" she begged, honestly getting a headache.
"Well, in that case, what DO you remember?"
The digi-human closed her eyes. "I remember...I remember my brothers and sisters- siblings like Ashe, Lex, and Metis. I have...I have vague splotches from before that. Nothing much. I don't remember any other family or parents..."
She held her head, brain throbbing as it grasped at feeble and ethereal straws. Nothing came without a lot of pain.
"I remember that it wasn't my first time in that pod."
"Huh?"
"Wait, so..."
"The brainwashing...it...it doesn't always take right. Some take to it quickly. Others fight it...when you broke me out, it was my third time in the tank. Any more and our maker would've likely scrapped me and simply made another..."
"That's...awful..."
"Wow...that's horrible..."
"So that's why I'm so glad to be with you here right now," said Andorra, chuckling, and hugging Brett. Less the squeeze.
Brett blushed. "Well...er...thanks, Andorra..."
"No problem. Besides, someone's got to help me around. Might as well be the guy who rescued me."
"Sheesh..."
"Well...what doesn't it hurt to tell us about?"
"I can list my siblings. Pandora, Labrys, Metis, Zeroth, Xavier, Ashe, Lex, Labrys...and..."
She clenched down on Brett, which immediately got him to turn around and kiss her.
"It's alright...he's not here...but I can't have you going bonkers any time he comes up..."
"...Right. At any case...then...there's...
Prometheus."
She snarled that last one. Badly.
"So nine of you total?"
"The ones that lived, at least. None of us have any idea if there were more before us. I'd figure if I managed to get through it twice without doing what I was told...two and a half times, I guess, now...I bet there were others. Even then, the brainwashing doesn't work all the way each time. Each of my brothers and sisters after they're brainwashed...minus a couple of them...aren't all the way sold on what shit's being pushed on us..."
She sighed, clearly weighing heavy on her...but then she looked up, a hard look in her eyes, even if Brett couldn't see it. "But that's what they get for not fighting. For being weak. We've got to stop them. Or at least get them to fight it again!"
"Well...tell me about each of them, then."
"Kind of a long list...only if you really want to hear it."
"No, it's alright, I do."
"...Alright. Who do you want me to start with?"
"Not the one that makes you go insane. What's with Metis?"
"Metis is, I guess I would say, the kid of the group...don't screw with her, though, she hits like a truck. She's got some kind of weird thing with Aigis. Not sure what or why though."
"Who's the oldest?"
"I suppose I am. Pandora and...that one...are just younger than me. The others are even younger than that."
"And why is Metis exactly so obsessed with Aigis?"
"Already said, no frigging clue. Might have to do with the fact that Aigis really got hammered by the brainwashing. She's like the opposite of me. Really quiet and subdued, likes taking orders and listening to people. She and I get along I guess, but she creeps me out."
"From their names, I assume Labrys is like them?"
"Well, in form, yeah. But she's a different kind of whack job. That girl's axe crazy. Literally. Has this honkin' axe that packs more punch than I do. She's a hardass. And we don't exactly get along."
"So...and the others?"
"Interesting cases. Lex and Ashe are pretty much siblings within siblings. They're..."
She stopped and sighed. "If I had to say that we were born from something, I'd say they were the twins of the group. Ashe is rather spunky and kind. Curious type, loves getting into trouble. Glad she got rescued; she's one of the better ones to hang with. She and I get along well. Lex is a lot more quiet than that, but he's also a good kid. Almost as reckless as I am. If I had to choose, out of all of us, the ones that I'd take with me being free, it'd be them."
She sighed.
"Zeroth is okay, I guess, but he's a lazy bum. Habitual liar. Thinks he's really smart, talks a big game. He's REALLY FAST, though. Kind of the opposite of me, in that regard. Minus the fact that I can shoot and he's HOPELESS at guns."
Another sigh.
"Xavier's...that kid needs help. He's good at heart but I think the brainwashing finally is going to get to him. Too much bad influence. If something isn't done soon he's going to be as fuck-nutty as...that one. He's supposedly going to be the one to talk to the public...it was always 'Let Xavier be the leader, let Xavier talk, let Xavier make the decisions and do this that and the other thing blah blah yak yak DRIVEL DRIVEL DRIVEL."
She scowled. "It'd be worse if he wasn't sincere at the core, but I think all of it will eventually go to his head."
"Pandora's just a snot. She's supposed to be the mediating influence and the calm planner, but she's probably the weakest when it comes to willpower. Putty. She goes along with whatever...that one...says. She's lost in her own head. I dunno what she thinks she's doing; I dunno if SHE knows."
Andorra shook her head, clenching her fists. "And then there's...Prometheus..."
She almost, ALMOST flashed, but held it in. "He's a complete psychopath. Took right to the brainwashing the first time through. No chance we're going to save him. Frankly I want to kill him myself. Put down that rabid dog where he stands."
Brett listened, not interrupting because he didn't want to get yelled at.
"So what're we going to do if we run into them?"
"Don't trust 'em. I'd tell Nanami but she likely already knows. They aren't right in the head and no matter what they do something bad's planned for them."
"Nanami told me they've already harassed DATS agents and killed a digimon. I missed it myself, though. Before I arrived in NY. As far as I know DATS has only seen Pandora and Prometheus, though."
"They're our creator's top pets. Prometheus is a weapon he likes to point at things, and Pandora manages to keep him on target...most of the time. Tools. That's all."
"....I'm sorry. About your siblings."
"I'm going to either rescue them or kill them to save them from their own fates. One or the other. And Prometheus is definitely fucking dead."
"What did he do to piss you off so much?"
"He thinks that being an asshole is funny. He gets on all of us when he can and then runs and hides behind the creator. He's simply a psychopath. I dunno, pick one? Any way you slice it I'm going to break that fucking scythe of his off in his damn mouth and he'll be shitting teeth for his dentist for a month."
"Ouch. Sounds like it'd hurt."
"It damn well better hurt..."
They continued for a bit, quietly. Brett wanted that to rest for a bit. Eventually, he started talking again..."
"Can you write all that down, Andorra?" asked Brett, handing his phone to her.
She nodded quietly and wrote it all up and sent it up to Nanami- her private secure line, which was on the phone; no chance of interception.
"I'll draw up pictures when we get back," said Andorra, "Because wherever they are, they won't be up to any good..."
She started adding in physical descriptors, so that way DATS would have good record of what to look for when it came to their siblings.
"If they show up anywhere, they'll know now."
"You good with descriptions?"
The digi-human nodded.
"Don't worry. Someone like Nanami? She'll be able to work up proper dossiers quickly...though once they turn up, we're really going to have to work carefully..."
"Yeah...they'll likely think you're dead, right?"
"That'll be what the creator will tell them," nodded Andorra, "And if that explosion was as bad as I think it was, none of them are going to disbelieve him...brainwashed as they are..."
She chuckled darkly. "Dunno, some of them might be happy to get rid of me! I bet that jackass'll get a chuckle. Labrys won't shed a damn tear, either! Not over me! Maybe over Lex, Ashe, and Metis, but not me!"
She smirked. "Just as well, I suppose. No one's going to be looking for me, then. Dead and unwanted at any rate! Be fricking surprise for them once we show up...spoil the living hell out of whatever the creator was planning..."
"What
was he planning?"
"I don't know. I really wish I did. That way I could stop it before it could happen! But it required being deemed 'fit for duty'. I've got no clue where my other brothers and sisters went or what they're planning...I wasn't brainwashed enough; I wasn't fit. In so many words. So he left me. We were the last siblings there. He might have more elsewhere; I don't know. I don't know I don't know I'M TIRED OF NOT KNOWING!"
She sobbed a bit, crying into Brett's back. Brett moved an arm around her and let her fall into his lap for a bit. It took her a good five minutes to regain her composure.
"I've...never cried...before," she said, face already dry. Probably was already dry because it had never felt that moisture before.
"No one has to know," he said quietly, "I'll cover for you, Andorra."
"We won't say a word..."
"You two..."
"Honor of a simple country boy," chuckled Brett with an imaginary tip of his cap.
"Still nothing on the digi-droid?"
"Not a damn thing."
"...Tell me about yourself, Brett," said Andorra, clinging to him closely.
"Not much to know...you already know my stats..."
"That...that doesn't tell the whole story, Brett...I know you can't hit a changeup to save your life- I can help you with that, if you want. I know that you walk a hell of a lot for someone that can't hit that changeup, and when you get something right down the middle that you've got the muscle enough and speed enough to get places with it. But I don't know
you..."
"Why do you want to know? I'm a simple country kid..."
"Because I've only known you for about an hour and I'm already feeling things for you that are much more than any love that I've ever felt for my siblings. So I want to know you better than I do them."
"IF THIS GETS INTO SEX YOU TWO ARE ON YOUR OWN!"
Brett about facefaulted, as did Andorra.
"I wasn't thinking about that!!!" blushed Andorra incredibly. She just...wow, that was sudden and overdone.
"WHO THE HELL TOLD A THREE MONTH OLD ABOUT SEX?!" also blushed Brett, more embarrassed than confused though that was a good bit of confusion.
"WHAT, DON'T BLAME ME, YOU TWO WERE ABOUT TO-"
"ENGAGE IN FURTHER CONVERSATION, NOTHING MORE!"
At least Andorra was back there laughing.
'Sides, I don't even know if she works..."Well, Brett, tell me, then," said Andorra, still laughing a bit, "Before Brick say something else stupid!"
"Hey!"
"Well...I was born and raised outside of San Antonio, Texas in a small town called Castroville. I'm the third oldest of eight children-"
"And I thought I had a large family! At least we were all made individually, your parents popped all those kids out! Holy cow!"
smirked Andorra, "What're their names?"
"Samuel Jr, Patricia Jr, they're older than me. Got a couple twins younger than me, Lee Ann and Sally May. And then Kyle, Andrew, And Adam..."
"You close to them?"
"Yeah. I helped my kid brothers and sisters throughout school. I played and fought with my older brother and beat up a bad ex-boyfriend of my older sister. I just do what needs to be done. No more, no less, miss."
"You're sweet. But if you call me 'miss' again I'll clock you. And if you try and say 'ma'am' I'll clock you, too."
"...Right...but...what...what are we to each other, then?"
"Friends. Good ones. Really good ones," said Andorra, smiling a bit, kissing him on the cheek, "And I am glad that you rescued me more times than I can possibly thank you for."
"But...Kaz and Keith were there, too."
"You're the one who broke me out of there. Carried me on your shoulder away from that explosion...Stopped me from becoming whatever it was I was to become. I was running out of steam, Brett, I was. I couldn't fight it much longer. But now I'm here, with you and Brick and Lex and Ashe and Metis are free. We'll get the others in time. Either free them..."
She flashed, incensed again.
"OR I'LL PERSONALLY PUT THEM OUT OF THEIR STINKING MISERY AND BREAK THE MAN THAT DID THIS TO US!"
I'm not sure if I should fall in love with her or run screaming from her...The fact that she flashed back down and immediately kissed him pretty much sealed the former.
