Before DATS and the Digidestined ever encountered Merukimon, Kurata, the Bio-Hybrids, the Royal Knights and King Drasil, they were busy protecting the city from random Digimon attacks. One time, however, one of DATS' operatives, Yoshino, started dating a famous singer; Hitoshi Hanamura, who went by the stage-name Neon.
However, Neon's career wasn't one of hard work and earned fame, but of scandalous cheating and tampering of results. As it turned out, he had befriended a Digimon; Keramon, who knew well how to operate the internet. Knowing how to use this to his advantage, Neon had Keramon hack into the internet and spread his music worldwide, so he could be acknowledged as a great star.
DATS wouldn't have any of that, and the operatives Marcus, Thomas and Yoshi circled in to attack him. Cornered, Neon grew angry, and had Keramon Digivolve into Chrysalimon, so he could wipe the floor with DATS. However, Chrysalimon was soon destroyed by GeoGreymon, and Yoshi had Neon's mind personally wiped, so he'd forget all about not only Digimon and his fake career, but also of their relationship. With his career all but wrecked, Neon used what little money he had to grab a new Digivice NEO to just waste his time away... but fate works in peculiar ways...
