Age:
16
Gender:
Male
Residence:
Odaiba
Occupation:
Student
Character Class:
Noncombatant (Digidestined)
Digimon Partner:
Agumon
Weaknesses:
Generally, Tai can be seen as somewhat impulsive, even if he's mellowed out since he first started his Digidestined career; mainly, this stems from a desire to just try and help anyone in need. Also, Kari. If she's threatened, and he's in the vicinity, I apologize in advance. Because Tai won't.
Personality:
Tai is a very caring and considerate person, even if his actions may cause some people to think otherwise. Unfortunately, this caring personality is often hidden by his rash actions brought upon by that desire to help people. Over time, though, he has learned to be a leader, and has blossomed as a person to someone who knows what he has to do and will do it; learning to look farther ahead and also to mellow out a little and not act as brashly as before, which makes him a touch ideal to mentor younger Digidestined.

History:
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS LONG. LIKE, VERY LONG. LIKE SO LONG THAT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY JUST SKIM THROUGH IT OR SOMETHING.
Tai's story began ten years ago, in 2002. A strange digital storm thundered over Odaiba, and a 6-year old Tai and his younger sister Kari found that a large egg was transferred from their computer screen into their living room. Deciding to keep the egg hidden from their parents, they cared for it until it hatched into a small, black creature. This creature eventually turned into a pink ball with bunny ears, calling itself Koromon, and being very happy about having the two as its friends.
That following night, however, a stronger digital storm crackled in the skies above, which prompted Koromon to transform into a large, yellow dinosaur, who caused a bit of damage around the neighborhood in search of something... a massive parrot-like creature, who was openly hostile not only towards Koromon, but to any being alike. Before the parrot monster could lay waste to the neighborhood, Koromon transformed further into a gigantic, orange dinosaur, who managed to annihilate the parrot at the cost of his own life.
As a result of this, an organization called DATS attempted to cover up the situation, whilst the children in the neighborhood, Tai and Kari alike, moved to different parts of Japan. They would not reunite until about four years later, when seven of the children previously living in that neighborhood, found themselves at summer camp, which turned into a grand adventure when they were whisked away to a place where Digimon originated from; the Digital World. Here, Tai met his future partner, Koromon; though he had actually forgotten about the first Koromon he had met years past. In any case, Koromon would eventually Digivolve into Agumon, before he'd learn the name of his second Digivolution; Greymon.
Together with the other Digidestined, as they were swiftly called, they managed to destroy one threat to the Digital World known as Devimon, before they traveled to a continent where the Digimon were a lot stronger than on the island they had previously been on. Here, while also dealing with one Etemon, the Digidestined learned of certain crests that would seemingly aid them in letting their partners grow stronger. Tai found his crest, the Crest of Courage first; but this made him brashly try to force his partner into Digivolving sooner. This treatment, coupled with another encounter with Etemon, prompted a sudden, dark transformation in Agumon; turning him into the vile, uncontrollable SkullGreymon, who nearly killed the other Digidestined and Etemon alike before he ran out of energy.
Though regretful of putting Agumon in harms way, when they all learned that they were seemingly inside of a computer program, Tai took that to mean that they were practically invincible, and grew even more fearless; which helped a bit when they were set to infiltrate Etemon's pyramid to snag another crest. However, when the glaringly obvious was pointed out to him that they weren't invincible and could actually die, Tai panicked and broke down, especially as his actions led to Sora being kidnapped.
After these two failures, Tai eventually confronted his fears and rushed in to save Sora from Etemon's insane subordinate, Datamon; narrowly letting the others escape before Datamon tried killing Etemon in a suicide attempt. However, this led to Etemon merging with the pyramid's fuel source, which amplified his power exponentially. To buy the others time, Tai charged ahead to face Etemon, which prompted Greymon to finally Digivolve properly, into the powerful MetalGreymon, who destroyed Etemon. However, the sudden rift Etemon's demise created sucked up both Tai and MetalGreymon, which landed them both...
...back in Odaiba.
For a while, Tai and the devolved Koromon wandered Odaiba, and ended up spending some time with Kari, where Tai learned that, even though they had been gone for weeks, possibly months, it was still the same day that they had left for the summer camp. This, along with some strange fluxations that caused other Digimon to appear around them, prompted Tai and Agumon to return to the Digital World, to reunite with their friends.
Here, they learned of a new threat, Myotismon, and how his subordinate DemiDevimon had been trying to keep the Digidestined separated. Tai quickly managed to aid TK and Patamon, and together they came to the aid of Matt, Joe, Gabumon and Gomamon, before Tai and Joe headed off to locate Mimi and Palmon. They all found out that Sora and Biyomon had remained in the shadows to aid the others from a distance, while still being doubtful of herself due to DemiDevimon's words. Tai, of course, didn't want her to wallow in self-pity like that, but she wasn't brought out of it until Myotismon himself arrived to try and kill them all.
After narrowly escaping, they learned that there was another Digidestined back in the human world, and that Myotismon was aiming to go there in order to kill her. After a failed attempt to stop him, Tai and company eventually regrouped and found the way back into the human world, where they prepared for battle against Myotismon's forces. There, they learned that Kari was actually the eigth Digidestined, and, with the power of the other Digidestined behind her, she managed to destroy Myotismon... the first time.
Myotismon somehow managed to revive himself into the much stronger VenomMyotismon, who threatened to destroy all of Odaiba with his increasing power. To counter this, the Digidestined fulfilled a different prophecy by having Angemon and Angewomon attack Tai and Matt with their holy attacks, which somehow prompted Agumon and Gabumon to Digivolve to their strongest forms; WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. Together with some quick thinking, they finally destroyed VenomMyotismon for goodand we all know that's a big lie of course XD.
Their problems weren't over with, however, as another force threatened to merge the Digital World with the human world; the Dark Masters, a group of four Mega-leveled Digimon who had risen to power during the Digidestined's absence. The four united proved stronger than the Digidestined could hope to match, but they eventually were sent off to deal with them one at a time. WarGreymon managed to get the first kill, by tearing through MetalSeadramon with his Dramon Busters; claws specially forged to deal with dragon-type Digimon.
Things got hairy when they got to Puppetmon, however; a rift was formed due to hostility between Tai and Matt, which culminated in a battle between WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, until a vision explained to them all how the Digidestined's eggs and Digivices were created. Matt and Gabumon left to be on their own (though they ended up killing Puppetmon before finally leaving), and Mimi and Joe decided to split from the group because of all the uneccesary battles they had fought.
Things got worse for Tai's group when they entered Machinedramon's domain, as Kari had caught a fever, and the third Dark Master systematically tracked the Digidestined down everywhere they were hiding. Thanks to Izzy, they briefly threw Machinedramon off his trail, but he eventually decided to personally blow them all to hell. They survived, however, and thanks to a horde of Numemon and an old friend in Andromon, WarGreymon cleaved through Machinedramon and destroyed the third Dark Master.
Thus, there was only one left; Piedmon, the very strongest of the four. Even the return of Matt and MetalGarurumon didn't aid, as the jester Digimon was far too powerful, and took to turning everyone, Digidestined and Digimon alike, into keychains. However, his demise was imminent as TK's crest FINALLY activated to prompt Angemon's Digivolution into MagnaAngemon, who locked Piedmon and his goons inside the Gate of Destiny. It was at this point, however, that things went... awry. The ultimate threat to the Digital World, Apocalymon, showed himself, effortlessly destroyed the Crests, and even tried to delete the Digidestined and their partners.
However, the bonds the Digidestined had formed proved too powerful for Apocalymon to contain, and they all grew to their strongest level in order to not only defeat Apocalymon, but cause his suicidal final attack to affect only a small space surrounding himself; saving the Digital World. This came with a price, however; the time rift between the two worlds would be repaired with Apocalymon's defeat, and if they didn't get back home before the rift sealed, it would take decades before they could return home. With that, the Digidestined tearfully parted ways with their partners, and headed off home.
Once home, the eight children were met with the same organization that had kept the battle between Greymon and Parrotmon four years ago under wraps, DATS. They were all given subsequent honorary DATS memberships in order to deal with future threats, while they also deal with the sudden emergence of Millenniumon and the case of Ryo Akiyama. The third time this happens, however, the Four Sovereigns had discussed with the Digidestined that they had to fool Ryo into believing that the training he required to deal with MoonMillenniumon was a tournament, which severed the ties between Ryo and the Digidestined. In spite of this being the Sovereigns idea, Tai and the Digidestined were subsequently berated by DATS for allowing this to happen.
After Ryo vanished, things turned quiet, until a new set of digital storms began making more Digimon emerge in the real world, prompting DATS and the Digidestined to keep the Digimon from causing an uproar among the humans. Around this time, Tai and Agumon encountered and befriended one Masaru Daimon and his own Digimon partner, a different Agumon. Eventually, however, the one responsible for the Digimon invasion revealed himself; Merukimon. As WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon swiftly found out, however, Merukimon was a stronger threat than even Piedmon had proven to be, and effortlessly wiped the floor with them.
As DATS traveled to the Infinite Ice Ridge to confront Merukimon once more, the Digidestined joined them, with WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon rejuvenated and ready to brawl with Merukimon. The battle was a lot closer this time around, but they were still forced to retreat... just in time for the mastermind behind the attacks on the Digital World, and indirectly, the one responsible for the Parrotmon attack five years ago, Kurata, revealed his schemes. This led to the group scrambling back to deal with Kurata and his strongest weapon, Belphemon; a Digimon said to represent the carnal sin of sloth as one of the Seven Demon Lords. In turn, Masaru, Touma and Yoshino, the prime front-fighters of DATS, achieved their Mega-levels, something only Tai and Matt had been capable of previously.
The battle was brutal, but DATS, in turn due to Marcus and ShineGreymon, prevailed; just in time for the Royal Knights to start brawling with the Digidestined and DATS. Rinse, repeat, the heroes won out. A brief time later, however, yet another threat loomed over the horizon; one that only four of the Digidestined were capable of handling, as this new threat, who swiftly became Diaboromon, utterly crippled any way for DATS to get involved. Diaboromon had also learned from every single encounter that the Digidestined and DATS had previously fought, and used this knowledge to overwhelm the Digidestined.
Out of desperation, however, once WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon simply couldn't take more punishment, Tai and Matt directly approached their fallen partners through cyberspace, and with the aid of every child around the world, the two Digimon were merged together into the powerful Omnimon, who managed to stop Diaboromon before a nuclear missile it had launched could detonate. After this, however, the Digidestined realized that, in order for the Digital World to flourish, they had to free the Four Sovereigns, who had been imprisoned by the Dark Masters many years ago; this meant that they had to give up their crests, which locked all their monsters back down to Champion level.
It is now the year 2012. New Digimon have emerged, the Digital World has flourished, and due to the events surrounding King Drasil and the Diaboromon outbreak, nearly everyone now knows about Digimon, which has prompted the creation of Digital Terminals to allow travel between worlds, and Digimon Online; a game designed for those who would like to relive the adventure others did six years prior. Though studies have prevailed, Tai has taken a certain interest in the Digital World again, especially after some... interesting readings...
