Lt. Col. McCall chuckled darkly.  "Oh, he is now, is he?" he asked, face otherwise plain, "That's going to be rather difficult. He has no say in the status of DATS's US holdings. And thankfully he was stupid enough to mention that firewall aloud. If he tries to shut off access to the digital world without the consent of all involved, he's going to be in for a rude shock. Or, at least, his government is. The US and the international community will be pounding on their doorstep; it would be akin to trying to block off Antarctica. And while their point may eventually prevail, the status quo should remain until international courts and negotiations settle it out." He snerked. "All their PR wins will be lost if they act unilaterally. The good Lord knows that we in the States catch crap for it all the time..." He turned to Mr. Daimon again, finding that the man was obviously distracted and angry before. "Sir, I've been asked to speak with you about the incident for my superiors, regardless. I'm not here to shut anything down or slap wrists. At the moment my men are here to assess damage and aid any civilians left behind by the evacuation. Finger-pointing can be done after assessments and damage control. Preferably only once." |

Japan can't just close off the Digital World without the permission of everyone else. Negotiations and settlements in the international courts could potentially take months. If you're expecting to be able to throw up that firewall in just days or something, that's not gonna happen."  "You... You certainly know a lot, miss Yolei..." "Yeah... Though I could be wrong on some bits, it's just mainly stuff I remember from the internet."  "And I'm ready to testify against it," Masaru said. "I've seen DigiCity grow from virtually nothing, seen Digimon come together in ways that some would think is just 'human', and willing to welcome humans into their world with open arms. They're more like us than you'll ever admit." He glared at Yamaki, "I am not going to let the ideal of humans and Digimon being able to co-exist crumble away because of a goddamn setback, nor because some short-sighted assholes think they know better than anyone else." "Now what makes you think we didn't ask permission?" he smirked, getting on the copter. "The Digi-Human project was considered by your military superiors; I wouldn't be surprised they never told you. After this incident, well...let's just say they might settle this than bullet-proof armor." With that, he entered the copter before it lifted into the air. ".....he's kidding." he gritted. Turning to the military officer, "He's kidding, right?" |

Sorry to interrupt order, but...this probably should be answered.Lt. Col. McCall snerked again. "Don't believe a thing he says," he said with a knowing look in his eye, "Pardon my French, but it's horseshit and he can take his little helicopter and run. He can believe what he will or whatever the guy atop him told him. That pompous over-officious REMF -for those not in the know, that's Rear-echelon Mother-Fucker, someone that sits behind the scenes and gives orders with no idea of the consequences- is bluffing. Another civilian stuffed suit. No offense, sir." Besides, my security clearance is far above what he would think. He's got no idea what mess he's screwing with. Stupid bastard.He caught the glare from the Doctor and only smiled faintly in return. He was used to the strange looks. Kiss off.He re-assumed the calm look, face completely blank. Unfortunately... Yamaki was indeed bluffing. I didn't even have the damn time to make such an offer to the US military... Damn it, Daemon. You should have informed me earlier... Albert thought to himself. "If you would excuse me... I must be going as well."  His armor flashed back on, and he proceeded to leap up to the nearest building, disappearing out of sight. He looked at Lt. Col. McCall, with a smile. "Heh... Nice to see you here." "At least we've got someone on our side and not completely dismissive of us," Kari smiled. She nodded, "Well, we can get around these new tricks the bad guys are using, right?" "That's the spirit!" "We'll need some positivity to get through this..."

Gritting, wishing he could punch Yamaki's head off, "Yeah...yeah, fine. I'll just..."  But he then spotted Izzy approaching the group, with a laptop in hand. "Izzy, what are you...?! Where's your Digimon?" "Still in the Digital World, keeping an eye on the Digimon Emperor. I was trying to catch up with you when you just bolted off." "And they call me reckless..." he muttered, walking off to speak with the military officer. |

Though still silent, TK glanced towards Izzy with a nod. "...do you have any kind of good news to bring, Izzy?" Patamon groaned, as he looked towards him as well. They looked towards Izzy as well. |

Lt. Col. McCall only sighed and shook his head. "Fine kettle of fish we find ourselves in, sir. I'm going to need a summary of what happened, but I'm here to help..." He flashed some strange look in his eyes. "I haven't been against this long an odds in a while," he chuckled, "But I can appreciate the challenge." He looked at Mr. Daimon and whispered so that no one could hear: "I need a place where there aren't any connections to any network. I'll debrief you and your DATS commanders there. We can talk details at that point." He resumed a normal speaking voice. "I'm just glad DATS members- and it appears, most civilians- are safe. I'll handle the press on the matter. Anything else you want to ask me or require in terms of support?" he asked, voice genuine the entire time. |
