Among the Digimon living on File Island, few were as battle-hungry as Ogremon; eagerly challenging any Digimon he could that was minding its own business. This often lead to brawls against his self-proclaimed rival, Leomon, where even if Ogremon was defeated, he'd always return for yet another match.
One day, however, things were different. Leomon had been marching to the top of File Island's mountain to look for the source of the Black Gears, and when Ogremon challenged him as he usually does, the demonic Devimon appeared and forcibly brainwashed Leomon to do his bidding; Ogremon, only desiring a battle with his rival, agreed to aid Devimon willingly. This led to Leomon and Ogremon ambushing the Digidestined, but when they escaped, Devimon lured them all into what seemed to be a resort, but was in reality a trap meant to scatter them all to the winds.
With them out of the way, he, Ogremon and Leomon set their sights on controlling the rest of File Island. However, as the Digidestined were brought together, and Leomon was freed of Devimon's control, the demon took Ogremon and assimilated his power in order to grow stronger than most of the Digidestined's Digimon. Thankfully, Angemon was powerful enough to destroy Devimon, which released Ogremon; who Leomon chased away after pointing out how hopelessly outnumbered he was.
Years later (in the Digital World, anyway), when the Dark Masters had formed the dreaded Spiral Mountain, Ogremon found himself being chased around by a horde of Woodmon near Puppetmon's domain. As he prepared himself for a brawl, however, a giant meteor suddenly crashed against the ground, which hurled Ogremon off a cliff and caused his arm to be broken. He was later discovered by Mimi and Joe, who decided to help him out in spite of their turbulent history.
As they were met by the resurrected Etemon, now in the Mega-form of MetalEtemon, the appearance of SaberLeomon, Leomon's own Mega form after being showered with the Digivice's holy light, aided the two Digidestined and Ogremon for a while. As they regrouped for a while, however, MetalEtemon pursued them, and SaberLeomon engaged him in battle. Ogremon was eager to aid as well, but Mimi attempted to persuade him otherwise due to his injury.
Sadly, MetalEtemon intended to take advantage of this by striking Mimi, but SaberLeomon took the blow meant for her. While MetalEtemon was dealt with by the combined efforts of Zudomon and SaberLeomon, there was little anyone could do to save Leomon from his demise. Before he passed away, however, he and Ogremon finally made peace. His death spurred Ogremon to aid Joe and Mimi against the Dark Masters, and together with a lot of Champion Digimon that Mimi decided to gather from what remained of File Island, they led a last charge against Piedmon and his army of Vilemon.
After the defeat of the last Dark Master, Ogremon and the other non-Digidestined evacuated the collapsing Spiral Mountain, while the Digidestined were left with taking on Apocalymon. Once they were done, they all found themselves in the Primary Village, where hordes of Digi-Eggs were now raining everywhere with the destruction of the Dark Masters allowing Digimon to be reborn. After a celebratory picture was taken, Ogremon went off on his own way; eager for the day to come when he could challenge Leomon once more.
